Professor António Matos concluded his PhD in 2003 at Porto University – Portugal, under the subject of "Planning a system of mass transit in a metropolitan area - the case of Maputo province. Professor António Matos has an experience of over 20 years, participated in various social and strategic projects and studies, mainly related with Maputo, where he has developed numerous works under the patronage of various national and international organisations studies.

 

From 1996 to date he has developed numerous studies related with the urban public transport systems, including urban planning, network public transport, preparation of master plan and also some studies related to ocean, coastal and logistics work in Mozambique, in parallel of teaching at University Eduardo Mondlane. He was appointed in 2018, August, by the Prime Minister of Mozambique Government as a CEO of Maputo Metropolitan Transport Agency which covers 3.5 million habitants and an area of about 2.5 thousand Km2.
